Our Mission

The Bay Ridge 5th Ave Business Improvement District (BID) is a non-profit organization serving 5th avenue, between 65th and 85th streets. The BID is a partner to local property owners, merchants, residents, elected officials, and community organizations to improve neighborhood conditions, that promote economic and cultural vitality of our commercial corridor.

With the inclusion of an AvenueNYC grant, the BID is providing additional support for low- and moderate-income merchants and residents. Increase services include but not limited to cultural programming, direct technical assistance, training, and evaluation of areas for improvement through a commercial district needs assessment (CDNA) process. Our Services

Clean Team

Includes 7 days a week of sidewalk and gutter sweeping, seasonal snow removal, graffiti removal, sidewalk and tree bed de-weeding.

Marketing & Events

Includes street festivals, Weekend Walks, holiday lighting, the Holly Trolley, Small Business Saturday, Ramadan festivities, and other seasonal events and promotions.

Beautification

Includes decorative sidewalk planters, benches, bike racks, banners, an annual holiday tree, and corridor street lighting, the BID maintains planting, public art, and avenue decor.

Advocacy

The BID is in regular communication with various city agencies and local elected officials advising them about the needs and challenges of the district while also pushing for policies that are in the best interest of the community.

Business Development

BID staff assist merchants with navigating various regulations and are knowledgeable about available resources. The BID also provides merchants one-on-one technical assistance with social media marketing and promotion, web design and branding.
